Malaysian rider to make debut in WorldSBK paddock.

Zulfahmi ‘Fahmi’ Khairuddin will have a change of scene in 2016 as the Malaysian Moto3 World Championship favourite moves to the WorldSBK paddock, making his debut in the FIM Supersport World Championship.

After six years, 103 races and two podium finishes in Moto3, Khairuddin will appear on the World Supersport grid with the Orelac Racing team. He will compete at the helm of a Kawasaki ZX-6R.

“It’s difficult to say anything at this stage as I have yet to get on the bike, test it fully and look at the competition,” says the 24-year-old from Selangor State in Malaysia. “In any case, I am really looking forward to this challenge and I aim to do my best to make my family, friends and country proud.

“Everything will be new for me, but I am happy to take up new challenges. I would like to thank SIC (Sepang International Circuit) for giving me an opportunity to continue with my career. WorldSBK is a world-class championship with world-class riders and I am looking forward to the competition.”

In 2009, Khairuddin competed in a single season of the FIM CEV in the 125 class, while making his 125 World Championship Grand Prix debut at Sepang later that season. His career highlight to date is the second place finish from pole position at the Malaysian Moto3 World Championship Grand Prix of 2012.
